Juan Carlos García Betancur, PhDCo-founder
Juan Carlos is an innovation-driven scientist and entrepreneur. He majored in Microbiology and obtained his Master degree in Molecular Biology at Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). Subsequently, he became biotech researcher at Corpogen (Colombia). Juan Carlos completed his doctoral research in infection and immunity at the University of Würzburg (Germany). After his PhD, Juan Carlos expanded his skill-set with training in life sciences management, project management and clinical research, also in Germany.
Having returned to Colombia in 2019 and building on his broad life-science research experience, Juan Carlos co-founded SupportA. He sets out to identifying research groups and biotech companies worldwide that address the diagnostic and treatment of infectious diseases with innovative technology. His goal is to help these companies access Colombian and Latin American markets.
As a life-sciences researcher in Colombia and Latin America, Juan Carlos is constantly observing the challenges faced by local life-sciences and health establishments and can effectively engage key opinion leaders among his peers. Alongside with his growing skills as an independent research leader and manager, he can effectively convey the meaning of innovative life-sciences research to organisations, business partners, and governments.
