Laura is founder at SupportA.

She is passionate about how technology can improve healthcare in Latin America and satisfy the needs of local patients. Her motivation is to bridge the gap between good science and clinical application to contribute to progress in medical sciences. She is convinced that smarter strategies can facilitate success in terms of positioning, partnerships, R&D strategy, product validation and funding.

She studied Biology at the Colombian National University and specialised in Molecular Bioengineering during her MSc at the Technical University of Dresden (Germany). Subsequently she performed her PhD in Cell Biology at the University of Amsterdam, this PhD project was developed in close collaboration with other European partners. Her research was funded by the European Commission with a Marie-Curie Fellowship.

Later on, in her role as a consultant and medical advisor for European and Asian companies, Laura was involved in project management, developing strategic plans, supervising the initiation and execution of clinical trials and product testing in Colombia. She supported the registration of innovative products for diagnosis of neglected tropical diseases and improved the marketing strategies in several Latin American markets.

Her understanding of the regional markets, scientific and business networks encouraged her to provide her consulting services to other dozens of companies and scientists for accelerating the research towards true impact in biotech, medtech and healthcare.

Laura is Spanish native speaker, is fluent in English and Dutch.
